Second chances

The gorgeous premiere issue of Second Writes is now available.

The brainchild of Marcelle Kube, Second Writes publishes ONLY previously published work!

What a great idea, huh? So many literary magazines won't publish previously published pieces, which dooms much of our work to being read by 10 people. Second Writes gives our pieces a second chance.

And there's payment! $150 upon acceptance of poetry, stories, essays, drama and art. Check out the submission guidelines here.

This issue includes five poems by moi, an amazing memoir piece that originally appeared in the New Yorker, and lots of truly high-quality writing that certainly deserved a second chance. Thanks, Marcelle.

What a great idea Kate, I'm always reluctant to post new work. It is considered published even if published on the internet! I'll have to give it a shot, thanks for the info. cherrio :)

P.S. Can you tell me what tear sheets of your work are, never heard of it before! It is in the guidelines! Thanks!

Hi Jo- A tear sheet is the piece "torn out" of the publicatino in which it appeared. Sounds like Marcelle wants "proof" it was published previously. I'm sure she'd accept a photocopy, though, rather than an actual tear sheet, but you might want to ask.

Ooooh, another journal to add to my submission list.

Thanks Kate,

The guidelines do say a copy is ok,
was just wondering what a tear sheet was. No major magazine publishes, and I wonder about poems appearing on the internet. Where I posted the original owner sold, and my poetry not longer there! Oh well I will let them know when I send some! Good luck on your wedding! I do believe everyone should marry who they truly love! :)
